When experiencing a performance slowdown, there are a few common areas you can check:
If your QuickBooks performance is getting worse over time, it’s important to check the size of your TLG file
Also, be conscious of your company file size and the limits of the different QuickBooks versions as your file grows:
- Professional: 10mb – 50mb
- Premier: 50mb – 300mb
- Enterprise: 300mb and up
If poor QuickBooks performance is accompanied by other strange symptoms such as missing or incorrect data, or crashes, performing a Data Verify and Rebuild can help
If QuickBooks is slow to open, make sure you are in the habit of closing it properly. Don’t just “X” out of the program. Instead, be sure to:
- close all open windows within QuickBooks
- close the company file via File > Close Company
- close QuickBooks via File > Exit.
If you are experiencing overall slowness, check to see if your internet service could be a factor
